Misha Milchenko - Don't Fall Apart

Much of what I do as an artist is driven by fear, or produced as a way to process fear. Here, I expose myself to the world.
These three 16x20” multimedia acrylic paintings get at the heart of my fear. Two neon, androgynous figures come apart at either side of a dreamlike statement in wobbly lettering: You’re asleep. Something’s wrong with your body.
Looking at the central painting from a distance, two words stand out: WRONG BODY. This statement is one that transgender people like myself struggle with. The disconnection between myself and my body, my dream and my reality, is something I navigate with trepidation. The neon figures filled with bright buzzing mess are thrust into the spotlight,
forcing me to confront my fear. I share that fear with you.
