I Couldn't Reach it Today
I'll Take That
These two pieces are a series about masking related to mental health. They feature a woman who has a commedia dell’arte inspired mask. Being a woman I struggle with presenting myself, especially when dealing with my mental health. Wearing makeup feels like a persona or mask that I wear in order to seem okay to external viewers. The first piece is called Couldn’t Reach it Today, which speaks about being unable to function without the mask, and letting my inner thoughts be present. The second is called I’ll Take That, which is about external forces attempting to rip off the mask.
