Our innate fear of top predators ignites our own sense of survival, at the same time as our fascination, reverence, and recognition of wild beauty in an exploding second of danger. Do we only truly feel alive in that second? Is that why people jump from planes, ski in front of avalanches, and dive with sharks? Is it about feeling alive instead of feeling danger? This grizzly was a surprise, as I glanced over the bank of the Atnarko River. For a second, our eyes met, in wonderment of what and who, each other was. Then her expression changed, everyone is prey, and everyone is a predator in nature. I left….
