Tresor Mukonkole - The Fear Mirror
The facial expressions in my artwork represent the constant emotions of the Congolese people from the Democratic Republic of Congo who are currently victims of war.
The people of Congo, in a state of utter and profound distress, have been condemned to suffer the effects and carnage of war. The few survivors of the morbid massacres have been forced to endure, on their own, endless discussions riddled with empty promises of justice that never materializes.
Those who have the power to bring about change simply stir the pot with no thought, often regardless of the destruction of lives and despite the deep desire for change that the people cry out for. Instead, they shift the weights in their favour, ensuring they are never lacking, with no thought of the people: stricken, destitute, and disappearing--with facial expressions that mirror fear.
